Lawn Aeration Shoes - Shoes For Aerating Your Lawn
62Lawn Aerating Shoes
Lawn aeration is the process of creating small holes in your lawn allowing more moisture and nutrients to reach the roots of the grass. It's especially important if your lawn receives a lot of traffic from anything from people to vehicles and animals. If the ground around your home or that your lawn is on has a lot of clay in the soil then there's also a better chance that you're going to need to perform aeration more often than other people.
This is where lawn aeration shoes come in handy. For many of us that don't have a large lawn or mow our lawns with a push along lawn mower aerating shoes are an easy fix. These shoes are almost like golf shoes except the spikes go down a bit further and it uses our body weight to drive the spikes into our lawn and loosen up the soil.

You May Need Lawn Aeration Shoes If
Some signs to look for if your lawn may require some aeration are
- If you can look down while standing on your lawn and see that dead grass is packed tightly, this means there's a good chance that fertilizers and moisture can't reach the roots of your grass.
- If the soil has a
large amount of clay in it, if you're not sure you can always take a
spade shovel and take a chunk out (make sure not to hit any underground
sprinklers or gas lines) of the soil and look for yourself. If you see a
lot of clay towards the surface chances are you should aerate your lawn
more often.
- If your lawn is starting to look unhealthy, being a lover of a nice lawn myself this is when it's time to spring into action. Not only do I stick my aerating lawn shoes on and go dance around the spot that look like it's dying but I sprinkle some fertilizer down, some new grass seed and make sure it gets extra watering.
Those are only a few of the ways you can tell if your lawn is going to require some aeration. If lawn aerating shoes don't sound like the best option for you or if you have a large lawn and walking around it in lawn aerating shoes just seems unfeasible, don't forget you can always call some lawn care professionals to come give you a hand.
