Light Nylon Garment Bags
For those of us that find ourselves traveling frequently we need something to carry our clothes in. Some of us even need something that's going to keep our clothes free of unnecessary fold lines and wrinkles.
Lightweight nylon garment bags help us achieve this simple goal of ours. I am not sure how exactly they work, but they work quite well. The only problem I have found with light nylon garment bags that will easily hang in our closets is that they are not very durable. This is by far the biggest problem I have come across when it comes to light weight nylon garment bags that I can easily hang in my closet.
I'm not saying my garment bags need to hand a crash test or survive the aftermath of a commercial airline crash, but I would appreciate it if they didn't tear when clumsy me is carrying too many things at once and they get caught on something.
Heavy Duty Garment Bags
Most heavy duty garment bags are made out of either heavy duty nylon fiber, carbon fiber or leather. Some of these garment bags even seem as if they could stop a speeding bullet but they do possess one problem.
The problem with most heavy duty garment bags is that you can't just hang them where you would normally hang a lighter duty garment bag. They are simply too heavy to do this. They will bend coat hangers or worse yet, break the beam you are hanging your clothes hangers on from too much added weight.
The upside to these types of heavy duty garment bags is that your clothes generally stay wrinkle free for the most part and they don't rip or break the first time you get them caught on something on accident.
The conclusion to garment bags
No doubt we all have our own preferences and needs. Luckily for us there's dozens if not hundreds of different manufacturers of garment bags that each have their own style and type. My advice to the unwary traveler looking for an excellent garment bag that you can hang in your closet is, maybe go with something in between. Something that's light enough for you to hang in your closet but yet heavy enough that it doesn't shrivel up and tear at the first sign of a loose nail in the wall.
